Revd Canon Carol Starkey

My name is Rev Carol Starkey, born & raised in the city of Kimberley, Northern Cape.

I was married to my husband, Edmond & three children were born from this marriage. Sadly, I was widowed in 2015, when my husband died of cancer.

Although many years ago, I studied TEEC, obtaining a Certificate in Theology, I was only ordained into the Diaconate in 2008 & Priested in 2009. This was during the tenure of retired Bishop Oswald PP Swartz.

I ministered in the Diocese of Kimberley & Kuruman, as follows:

Hospital/school Chaplain;

Co-ordinator for HIV/Aids;

PA to the Bishop;

Parish Rector;

Archdeacon – Diamond Fields Archdeaconry;

Chairperson: Link Committee of Oxford, Kimberley & Kuruman Dioceses;

Canon Missioner;

When Bishop Oswald retired in 2019, I was appointed as the Vicar General ( during the Covid pandemic );

I was licensed as Honorary Provincial Canon by the Archbishop, during my tenure as VG;

Bishop Brian was transferred to Kimberley in 2020 & I retired in 2021. I was based at the Cathedral & received & received a PTO License;

On 15th May 2023, I arrived in Plett, to minister in the Parish of Formosa, as an assistant Priest.

I thank Bishop-elect Edwin Pockpass & VG Jerome Prins, for this opportunity to minister in this part of God’s vineyard!
