Parish of Formosa Soup Kitchens

There is a saying that God will always take care of the church, well actually just a saying that my dad always referred to when people would criticize the church and its doings. And indeed, God takes good care of the church and not only the church, but God also takes care of the people that make up this institution.

The Parish of Formosa has been able to, in the midst of this pandemic, continue with its endeavors to support those in need. With 3 soup kitchens running, one of which only distributes dry ingredients, we have been able to not only look after our own but also look after the communities in which our respective soup kitchens run, namely Kwanokhutula, The Crags, Harkerville and Kranshoek.

With the help of the Plett Aid Covid-19 Response team, we are now able to feed more people and have also been able to assist Pinelands Crèche as well as Reeza Old age home in Kranshoek on a more regular basis. We would like to thank all our donators and sponsors who listen to the call of God, to take care of the church and her people. Ndiyabulela Enkosi

Winter is here!!!!!!

We want to thank all our volunteers at the soup kitchens in the Parish of Formosa for making sure that the people of the communities are kept warm this winter with big bowls of soup!!!

We care!!! We deliver!!!

A few years ago, I was introduced to this caption when I started working for Oakhurst insurance and subconsciously, I had been using it as my guiding tool in dealing with the clients that we served. The catchphrase we care, we deliver was not only a marketing tool to show clients that Oakhurst was one of the best insurance companies out there, but this also meant that they cared for the broader community. I remember that in our training sessions we had the opportunity to assist the Soft Landings team in creating these meal packets that would later feed thousands of people. I was very impressed. A company with Christian values, supporting the local community.

Today I no longer work for the Badger team at Oakhurst insurance, I became a priest in the Anglican Church of Southern Africa since then but have not forgotten the solid foundation created by the company. I have learned through my experience with Oakhurst that people matter and have used this as the base of my ministry. And because we as the church also try our best to cater to the community, not only spiritually and emotionally but also physically, the soft landings team at Oakhurst has made sure that we were also assisted in this regard. With seven chapelries wide-spread in the beautiful area of Plettenberg Bay and with the current pandemic and those who have sadly had a substantial loss of income, the soft landings team has assisted us in such a manner as to serve the community to the best of our ability! Thank you, Oakhurst!!!! Thank you for assisting us with these meal packets…and for reminding us that when we truly care, we deliver!!!!

Many blessings Soft Landings
Kindest Regards and many thanks. Reverend Stephanie (Assistant priest Parish of Formosa, Plettenberg Bay)
