The Archbishop has requested that we ring the bell every day at noon and say this Angelus prayer together

Eucharist Readings:

Acts 12:24-13:5a                 Psalm 67                        John 12:44-50

‘Jesus proclaimed: To believe in me, is not to believe in me but in Him who sent me, to see me, is to see Him who sent me, I have come into the world as light so that no one who has faith should remain in darkness’.

These according to John, are Jesus’s last words of public teaching. Hereafter he will teach his disciples and will stand before Pilate. Jesus makes the claim which is the basis of His whole life, that in Him people are confronted with God. To listen to Jesus is to listen to God. To see Jesus is to see God, In Jesus, people meet God because through Jesus we have a relationship with God.

Maybe that is the whole idea, when we meet with one another we meet Jesus, we see Jesus in one another. We converse about Jesus, we confront our daily situations with Jesus, and so we meet God through Jesus Christ.

Jesus also returns with the thought that He never came to this world to condemn but to save. God did not send Jesus to us in anger but in love. Also, the coming of Jesus involves judgment.

Although it does not mean to judge one another but to judge ourselves, measuring ourselves against Jesus. Our behavior, our actions, how we conduct ourselves. Our attitudes towards other people and as we portray ourselves, that is also how we as Christians portray God to others. One’s attitude towards Jesus also shows what a person is like.

If a person finds in Jesus an infinite magnetism and attraction, if that person even never succeeds in making their lives what they know it should be,  that person has felt the wrench of God upon their heart and therefore that person is safe.
